Before You Start
- You must be 18 years or over to apply.
- You can verify your documents online
- You will require a photo of yourself holding a commencement of identity document:
- this can be completed by webcam during the application procedure, or
- you can upload a photo of you holding this document
- You need to provide 100 points of ID to apply - check table here

Australian Citizenship Certificate
Full Birth certificate (not birth certificate extract)
Certificate of Identity issued by the Australian Government to refugees and non Australian citizens for entry to Australia
Australian Driver Licence/Learner’s Permit
Current (Australian) Tertiary Student Identification Card
Photo identification card issued for Australian regulatory purposes (e.g. Aviation/Maritime Security identification, security industry etc.)
Government employee ID (Australian Federal/State/Territory)
Defence Force Identity Card (with photo or signature)
Foreign Passport (current) AND you are currently in Australia
Foreign Passport (current) AND you are currently NOT in Australia
Secondary Documents. Select as many as you need to reach the 100 points of Identification
Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) cardCentrelink card (with reference number)
